About Us

HOPE CENTER is an ecumenical organization, established at the beginning of 2018 under the guidance of Archbishop George Abo-Khazen of the Latin church in Syria and supervised by the Sisters of Jesus and Mary.

Our mission:
To serve and support Syrian families

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds”.

Hebrews 10:24

We work to help Syrian families to restore the balance and stability into their lives through many initiatives that focus on the family, which we consider the most important unit to build a healthy and successful community.

Starting with the main provider of the family to help him/her in reviving their previous jobs or giving them a chance of starting their own projects that would provide them with an income which will cover their daily needs. This is a step in rebuilding the country’s economic structure on a micro level.

We care about women empowerment, to encourage the abused, weak women in society to work and be independent in their own life.

The youths, to prepare them to enter the work field and be creative and functional individuals.

We also care deeply about the children and how to return the joy and hope to their lives, in addition to well education.

Our values:
Responsibility - Modesty - Listening - Justice - Hope

In Syria a country that has been marred by all kinds of war humanity had ever invented, Every Individual went through his own battles of anguish, agony and need... and almost every single Syrian family became a stricken victim in the grip of the strenuous war, ravaged by loss and torn apart by immigration it became a living witness of global cruelty…

Amongst this heartbreaking reality and despair, Syrians had a decision to make, and while many have chosen to leave their country, others were brave enough to stay… their “Radiant hearts” became the dimmest glimmer of hope to disperse the darkness of despair and the Sail that defies high winds, steering the community towards the shores of stability.

From midst of pain and the hope of salvation, the Hope center was set off in the community to be the streak of hope for others, inspired by words of Jesus Christ “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”. John 8:12

The Values of Responsibility, Modesty, Listening, Justice and Hope were chosen by the team of the Hope center to be working by:

Responsibility: Serving people is our responsibility towards them as individuals and as families which ultimately reflects on our society and country. It is a responsibility that is in constant growth as long as we dedicate our work to God’s glory. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord”. Col 3:23.

Modesty: Whoever works from the heart must carry a humble heart and this is what we aim to carry, a humble heart. Our mission is guided by modesty, love and patience, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient”. Ephesians 4:1-2. Every day there’s an opportunity to modestly share the pain and suffering beneficiaries have been through and with patience create a better place, attributing our success to the glory of the Lord.

Listening: the vicious war has spared no one from its agony. Behind every closed door lies a sad story, and every single person has his unique life experience before and during the war, opening their hearts and sharing their vulnerability with us is an honor we deeply appreciate. We try to hear with our hearts and work guided with grace and mercy instead of some fixed standards. This way Listening becomes the compass that orients our team’s work.

Justice: This may be one of the hardest values to work on achieving. Along with all our partners we seek to implement true justice though our work. On one hand, None of us is qualified to assess the needs of others, on the other hand, every day we are entrusted to receive and deliver the gifts received from donors to the worthy with justness and mercy similar to the Lord’s, as “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the father of the heavenly lights” James 1:17.

Hope: our mission has always been supporting and protecting the “family” in Syria as an effort to preserve the Christian existence in our country, from that point of view we chose our name, objectives and values. Spreading this hope is fundamentally associated with our Christian belief that the Almighty God is our hope of salvation, he is the capable of what is not possible for people “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is Faithful”. Hebrews 10:23.

When we encounter pain in every sorrowful story we hear, it becomes our challenge to look in the details and find the hope for all to see and be able to view our life in the shadow of this war from a new perspective.

We always entrust God with our families and our country. From his unconditional love and endless mercy, we extract the strength to stay and survive, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16.
