The transition from student-life to full-time career can often be challenging. Specially that many graduates lack the essential skills required to get by in the workplace. The main objectives of the DISC project are to help the newly graduates to be oriented workwise and to equip them with the workplace skills they need to ensure they are ready to embark on the work market. The project works on 3 basic aspects simultaneously; the basic skills, employment skills, the companionship to share experience and support. The thing that eventually enriches the graduates’ CV, their first window to show potentials and qualifications.
Nancy Abouzaid – Interior and Exterior designer at Platinum company
At HDISC we were surrounded by love that encourages us to try new experiences and activities. The first time I discovered my ability and potential to be a trainer was at the center, particularly at "public speaking" training which was very useful in my previous job at CCFP as a "Life skills trainer". Although in my current job as I write daily reports and proposals for our clients, using Excel and Word programs which I acquired at HDISC. The center provided us with all the needed courses that may be not affordable, for most of us to take on our own outside the center. I hope the message of HDISC spread all around Syria and continue this success.
Antoun Ghumid - Medical Officer at SSCC
During my studying years, I was just focusing on my studies and neglected all the other important aspects and skills, Once I realized that, I decided to join HDISC, English and computer courses that I have learnt at the center helped me a lot in my new job as it reduced the time required for writing reports in English, so did my communication skills which have been improved especially "Active Listening " and "Dealing with difficult people" since we were doing a variety of training courses full of interactive parts which turned into real skills. So we have the foundation to work faster and in a more professional way. The center strengthens my will to continually develop myself, and you always need to learn more for your constant intellectual and cognitive development.
Hala Haddad-English literature, A Volunteer in Ephraimites Nuns (ST. Peter & Paul center)
I used to work in jobs that did not fit my ambitions and were not suitable for my aspirations until I had the opportunity to develop my skills when I applied for HDISC. The center has enriched my CV as my English language and computer skills are now much better. Besides that, I have got the International Computer Driving License for free, which was so hard to afford on my own, my chances to find work that meets my passion and experience became much higher. After HDISC, I am more open-minded for the ideas of all different generations, which helped me to be able to interact better with students and colleagues in my new workplace. HDISC is the real motivation for my continuous development.

The center and the various trainings and courses, helped me to enrich my skills and start planning my career. HDISC improved my computer skills especially in Excel, which is very useful and helps to make my work easier, in addition to “CV and Interview” training; this training was the essential reason for me getting this job. HDISC was the base of my professional progress on both personal and practical levels.
