“I’m a father of two children now, I had to sell my house after the shells damaged it, I took my family and fled to our village in search of safety,” Dani said.

Because there were no job opportunities in Mashta Helou, he decided to go back to Aleppo and leave his family there to be able to send some money to them and this situation went on for 5 years.

Dani's previous work experience was when he opened his own sewing workshop with a partner, and during the war the building was exposed to shells, so the project was closed, and he sold his machines at a low price. In order to improve his income, he decided to work as an accountant.

In 2019, Dani started working in a sewing workshop as a supervisor, but with a low income and his wife helped him a little with her salary because she is an employee, but their returns combined were no longer enough for a family of four.

With his high experience in the sewing domain, in addition to communicating with clients as a clothing marketer, Dani decided to apply to reopen his workshop and become independent again, so that he be able to secure a better living for his family.

“Being a doctor does not mean being rich, it wasn’t my ambition to become rich and famous, all I wanted was to help the poor people to get well”

Dr.Youssef also known as the poor’s doctor, opened his clinic in 1976 in Al-Houllouk; the poor neighborhood in the east of Aleppo, since then he gained a lot of popularity in the area and became one of the key people there, he treated many families from elderlies to children.

In 2012 when the war hit the city, it was very hard on him, the conflict started in the area and there was a huge explosion next to his clinic and his 35 years of life work vanished, he lost his clinic and his memories, but the most important thing that he survived.

Since then, Youssef became without any clinic and stayed at home, but all of his neighbors and patients kept calling him and asking him what is he going to do next. But he didn’t surrender, one week later he started working in two charitable dispensaries for free, “I don’t care about the income, all that matters to me is the smile on the patient’s faces”.

In 2017 when the war stopped in the city, the very next day Youssef visited his clinic, he was shocked; “I couldn’t recognize my clinic”, everything was destroyed, the building was hugely damaged and everything was stolen.

He was surprised that his neighbors prepared him a small room to be used as a temporary clinic in another building and called it the neighborhood clinic.

Today, after 10 years of displacement and thanks to the donor, Youssef is ready to re-open his clinic after it was totally rehabilitated with the help of Hope Center and some volunteering work from the neighbors.

"Good deeds have no limits, I will continue my humanitarian mission without any hesitation".

Khachig is an enthusiastic young dentist full of hope and humanity, who dedicated most of his time to working with charitable infirmaries to help the poor people despite his own needs.

the 24 years old recently graduated with a high degree but he suffered a lot during the last decade, his family had to flee from Palmyra city in 2015, his father was also kidnapped and his car was stolen near the city and he was released after a while, they lost everything, their home, car, the family main work and most importantly, the safety.

The family moved to Aleppo city due to the presence of their cousins there, but the suffering didn’t end, they had to move and change their area repeatedly because of the mortar shells next to their rented houses. They couldn't return to Palmyra after losing everything there.

But Khachig didn’t surrender, he became the main provider and worked with many dentists and infirmaries, he built a strong reputation for himself, today he is ready to open his own clinic after all the experience that he gained in dental specialties, he wants to fulfill his need for sustainability by becoming an independent dentist.

“I believe that small steps will lead you to your bigger plan”, this is the motto that Khachig sticks to and tries to achieve every single day.

Habib is a silversmith with more than 22 years of experience in this field. Going through war and being responsible for his mother, forced him to mature early in life.

During his twenty-two years of working in this domain, Habib worked on his skills and started building his own name in 2000, and now he is well known. Before the war, he was exporting his products abroad, but unfortunately, with the beginning of the war, the conditions became difficult, and he closed his workshop in 2014 for one year.

“I chose to learn about silver for many reasons. I decided to work with my brother in the same field. After putting a lot of effort into crafting, my clients and my experience increased. With the help of my brother, I can put my collection in his silver shop to sell them.”

Habib's workshop is fully equipped and has few workers, but he still needs the basic machine because he pulls the silver from another workshop, in order to save transportation time and expenses, and also keep the wasted silver. So he decided to apply for Micro projects for this machine.

His dream came true when he got the funds from the Micro Project that allowed him to purchase the machine that he needs, which will make a significant improvement to his business and positively reflect on his income, hoping for better days to come.  

“Trying to support my family is my main priority, but doing it while job searching can be difficult”. Samir said.

Young people, like Samir, are finding it more difficult to find permanent jobs, especially under these harsh conditions. Nowadays, it is very important and necessary for them to manage their own money. That is why Samir decided to work and study at the same time, the 22 years old studies at a sports institute in addition to working on the cutter machine.

Samir was trying to do something he loved, and through his work on the “cutter machine”, he loved and learned about it for more than 6 years at a young age. He worked in the same place but lately the business was weak because this profession requires a lot of marketing.

The war was hard in many aspects; a shell fell on the family house, injuring Samir's father in addition to their displacement to several houses. His father is an employee and his brother works as an administrator in a printing press.

Now Samir wants to buy a cutter machine that will be very useful and will help him provide for his family and do what he loves with his experience. With the help of his brother, he will put the machine in his workshop to save electricity and rent expenses and benefit from the clients and acquaintances in addition to his marketing experience.
Having his own cutter machine will make a real difference and help a man of his age after years of hard work to establish a business for himself.

Many women have achieved great success in various fields, although reaching their goals was difficult. Fyrial, 56 years old, is a nurse responsible for her sister who lives with her after the death of their parents.

“Nursing is not just a job, but a way of life; it is a true passion that never goes away.” This is how she described her job. Nursing is a humanitarian profession that requires high skills to help others. Fyrial, has worked in this profession for more than 30 years and gained great experience from her work in hospitals.

This strong woman has worked with many famous doctors during her tenure as a Nurse Manager. She has always strived to develop herself by educating and developing to have the best practices.

Over time and through her work in the hospital with her sister, they were able to buy a house before the war started.

This is Fyrial's first step to independency to open her own clinic after retiring from the hospital. With all the experience that she gained in addition to her patients, her income will increase through the help of Micro Projects.

Malake and her family have always been so grateful for their home in Raqqa city, but unfortunately, the war forced them to leave all their possessions there as well as their belongings and memories after it was burned and look for a safer area to save their lives.

After they fled to Lebanon and stayed there for eight years, the spread of corona, along with the bad economic situation and the struggle to pay rent had them decide to come to Aleppo. It was a stressful experience for Malake’s family to be displaced two times, leave their home, and move away from their relatives and family. 

Malaka worked as a hairdresser at home when she was in Raqqa from 1993 to 2012. Through her travel to Lebanon, she benefited from developing herself by working in two different salons to increase her income. And by the time she moved to Aleppo with her family, she didn't have any suitable job opportunities because she did not have any equipment to work with.

Now, Malake lives with her mother, and her sister who is the only provider for her family, and her brother also didn't have the chance to find a good job. She is hoping to work again with the new equipment,  this project will provide the independence that she is looking for and a better income.

When a loved one passes away, we are never prepared for the changes that will come into our lives from this tragic loss. Because of the war, George lost his brother due to a heart attack, and the family suffered several losses, especially the loss of their workshop, which prompted them to sell their car, house, and all the machines they owned.

George was a young man, a talented tailor. He had a sewing workshop and sewing machines. He worked very hard with his brother before the war, they were well-known for their experience in this career. Jointly in their rented workshop, hand by hand they worked until his brother’s death.

George is the father of Joseph and Jessica, and the only provider for his family, in 2006, he began learning about this career in many workshops then. His first workshop was opened in 2013 and he always did his best to guarantee a successful business. It used to be a source of livelihood, but unfortunately, the machines he used for more than 10 years became very old and totally consumed.

To improve the machines in his workshop and develop them, he will sell some of them, in addition to helping the Hope Center, because these machines will give him higher productivity which, in turn, leads to an increase in his returns.

Having this new sewing machine allows George to run his project more efficiently.

Since he was a kid, Elias didn’t like going to school, but instead, he loved hairdressing, one day he decided to quit school and chase his childhood dream and his parents respected his decision and supported him because of the huge need of providing a better livelihood for the family.

In 2011, he took courses at well-known hairdressers and gained excellent experience, he started working in many salons and gained a good reputation day after day. Afterwhile he had many customers and he began to work between houses.

Three years ago, Elias went to military service in Idlib governance for two years, and during his vacations, he used to work in salons for a temporary period, recently he has been laid off; being the only provider for his family.

Today, Elias wants to continue his career and open his own salon to get back into the work market and strengthen his reputation to secure a better future for himself and for his family. 

Haroutiun Sarkissian has been working as a car electrician for more than 30 years, with his uncle Hagop who is the business owner, and his cousin Kevork.

Repairing car electricity has been the family's profession for more than 50 years, when Hagoup started working in the family workshop, later Haroutiun joined him along with Kevork, who was working as a laborer for another workshop in the field of metal lathes.

Uncle Hagop has become aged and is no longer able to work in this domain which requires a lot of physical effort, especially after what he had suffered from displacement due to the cruel war.

Currently, their project is their only source of income, which covers the needs of three families.

Cars have become more modern with advanced systems that the errors can't be discovered in the old ways anymore, which makes it necessary to own a developed inspection device in order to detect malfunctions of the autos. Due to their limited financial ability, the two cousins started renting this device and sharing its profits with the owners to maintain their customers...

"I tried a lot to develop myself in this country, but the situation was always overwhelming. I asked for help because we do not want to leave the country. This country is ours, and we love it and want to stay here."Haroutiun said

Now they can dispense with the idea of ​​renting the device and rely on their own new device to resume their thriving work, as it will provide a greater income for them and their families.

“losing my only brother due to a heart attack almost two years ago still aches me, we went through everything together, when he passed, it was a nightmare.” This is how Koharik described the loss of her brother that she lived with and now, she lives alone in her sister’s home.

The year 2012 was hard on them, her brother’s home was destroyed by war, so they had to move to her sister’s house which is empty after her travel abroad.

Koharik previous work experience was in a goldsmith's shop for more than eleven years with a low salary, and it was difficult for the family to live on the minimum wage, so she started searching for a better opportunity.

In order to enhance her income, Koharik decided to take beauty courses as this field is most in demand, especially since her employer’s travel, she lost her job in the goldsmith’s shop. With all the experience she gained through working between salons and houses in these ten years, her customers encouraged her to take a step forward and open her own salon.

Koharik decided not to give up because she is a strong, ambitious woman who wants to hold on to her work and rely on herself by working and establishing her own project. The Micro Project program allowed her to improve her work by providing the required tools and materials, now Koharik will use her skill to make good income and have a dignified living. 

Dealing with people’s lives and health is one of the most rewarding and critical jobs, especially during wartime.

Alek was only 20 years old, and still ungraduated when he was left in front of his father’s injuries because of a shell that left some shrapnel in his body.

This young, ambitious man studied at a nurse institute, and right after he started working in the hospitals, helping people recuperate their health, as he was excellent, a private hospital asked him to join their team.

Alek worked hard day and night, taking care of sick and war-injured people. He had some harmful psychological effects that never stopped him from performing his moral duties. Even during the time of Covid crisis, he kept practicing his valuable profession.

Despite his young age, he became the only breadwinner for the family, after his father lost his job. Nathaly (his younger sister) tried to help him by teaching aerobics classes for school students. But due to the low salary and expensive transportation costs, she quit.

Alek’s father had a damaged shop that was destroyed during the war, but with the aid of church, they rehabilitated it to arrange a nurse clinic, especially since it's located in a region that people are getting back to, and there is no health clinic yet in this area.

With the aid of the Micro projects, Alek is now able to purchase the expensive equipment he needs to initiate this project and improve the family's livelihood, utilize his medical skills, and gain a wider reputation in this domain.

Rabee has always been an expert at sewing, he had even owned his own workshop since 2003 in a small village, where he lived with his wife and three kids.

However, trouble came knocking at his door when an armed group attacked the area. Rabee and his family had to flee for their lives, leaving behind their rented small house and all their belongings, including his beloved sewing workshop.

Rabee had to start from scratch and find a way to provide for his family. He decided to move to Damascus, where he heard that it was a safer place to live. He went from one workshop to another, working as a laborer, to put food on the table and find a safe place to live, But he didn't give up on his dream of owning a sewing workshop again.

With the help of the micro project in Damascus, Rabee got all the tools and equipment he needed to start his own workshop again. He was grateful for the opportunity to recover his lost livelihood and finally earn a living for his family.

Rabee is now able to provide a better life for his family, thanks to his hard work and determination. He would never forget the hardships he and his family had faced, but he is proud that he persevered through it all.

At the age of 17 Elie Hannoun decided to leave school and start working at a hairdressing salon in his hometown Saydnaya to support his family and handle his own expenses.

soon he became very skilled and well-known in the town but he couldn't expand his work because after the war outbreak, the devastating impact spread to Saydnaya region, and all its residents became living under danger and threat, which led to the cessation of work in most professions, including Elie’s work, as he was forced to move with his parents to live in Damascus.

unfortunately, their displacement synchronized with the deterioration of his father's health as he was diagnosed with cancer which forced Elie to stop working and support his father throughout the treatment period, which lasted for four painful and harsh years and ended with his father's death in 2014.

Elie and his mother remained alone living in a small and poor flat in Jaramana and he became the breadwinner of the house, so he started working at a hairdressing salon in Jaramana to cope with the difficult circumstances but with the Corona pandemic and the quarantine started which affected his work and forced him to stay jobless for a period until he was able to continue working trying as much as possible to provide the simplest requirements of life and even his mother started looking for a job to help he son.

Elie was seeking to have his own salon, through which he could be independent and obtain a stable income matching the high cost of living.

Therefore, as soon as his friends told him about the Micro-projects program in Damascus, he immediately applied for the hairdressing salon project in Jaramana, and today, after his project was approved, Elie regained his energy and enthusiasm for work and he is opening his salon from the early morning with all faith that this opportunity he got will change his life for the better and help him secure a decent life for him and his mother.

Raymon Al-Badawi, 30 years old, is married to Yara Haddad, and they have adorable twins, George and Charbel who were born in 2021.

Raymon, his family, and his old parents live in a small rented flat on Al-Qurayyat Street, Jaramana city. his father works as a tailor and his mother is retired so basically Raymon is also the responsible for their expenses.

At the beginning of his twenties, he started working at an aluminum workshop and soon after he was able to learn the profession and became very skilled in it, he wanted to empower himself more so he could have his own workshop in the future because he found that this profession provides stable and sustainable income that will secure his livelihood.

However, during the years of war, life became very difficult and despite all the hard work he was putting in, he was only earning 20% of the workshops income, while the rest was going to the workshop owner which made his wages barely enough to cover the daily food and he started to suffer from financial distress and became unable to meet the household demands.

Raymon was certain that if had the chance to have his own workshop, things will get better especially since he got the experience, acquaintances, and the demanded skills to run the project.

With great faith, Raymon applied at the Micro-project and his request was approved as he was funded with all the machines, tools, and equipment to start his own workshop which he considered the lifetime chance that will give him a strong push to be independent, have a better income and help to secure his family's future.

Aleen Salhani, 31 years old, lives with her parents and sister in a modest house in the city of Jaramana, Damascus countryside. She graduated from the Agricultural Technical Institute and started working as a seamstress assistant in a workshop, then she worked several jobs, trying as much as possible to earn enough money to afford the house demands because her parents suffered from several health problems and were unable to work which made Aleen and her sister responsible for the household expenses. 

This responsibility became heavier during the difficult years of war, especially after a mortar shell destroyed their car and ruined a part of their house. Even though the family survived but they had to pay a lot of money to repair the house which overwhelmed Aleen with more obligations. 

Aleen has always had a passion and talent for decorations and handicrafts, so she started working with her relatives and friends and tried to grow her talent into a project with the deterioration of the financial conditions in the past years, because her job was no longer providing her with sufficient income to meet the house needs, and wanted to use her talent in handcrafts to start her own project.

Every success in life starts with a small step, and Aleen took that step when she applied to the Micro projects program. Now, after being funded with all the materials and tools, she was able to have her own handicrafts shop, which made her full of determination and hope to enhance her work so she could improve her living conditions.

Jad Aghaby is 27, he lives with his mother and sister in Jaramana, his father left the family a long time ago and didn't take any responsibility for taking care of his children.

Since his childhood, Jad and his two sisters Joel and Jessica had to be self-dependent and work to afford their expenses.

He graduated from the Accounting Department and started working but unfortunately, in 2011 he was diagnosed with cancer and underwent two years of intensive treatment and had two surgeries.

In 2013, Jad and his sister Jessica decided to travel to Lebanon and work there because of the terrible condition of the country, but a year after, his sister was also diagnosed of having Leukemia and had to return to Syria to take treatment but the disease was in a late stage and she passed away in 2014.

The loss of Jessica was devastating.. and it took them a long time to get back to their normal life, especially for Jad, who suffered from the same disease and always felt death surrounding him.

However, he stayed in Lebanon until 2018 then he returned to Syria and started to work as an accountant in a clothing store until 2021 when he quit from work because of the low salary that didn't match the increasing costs of living.

Jad decided to try a different job so he worked with his friend at a detergent store to gain experience and then applied to the Micro-project program for his own detergent shop because he thinks it is a lasting career as the materials are required and always consumed.

supporting Jad with the detergent shop didn't just provide him with a good and sustainable income, but also helped in improving his psychological condition to overcome the tragedies he went through and have a positive outlook for the future

For more than fifty years, Nabil Al-Nasser lived in Al-Swaida city, got married there, had children, established a successful trading business, and had a stable home. He was about to reach his retirement age thinking that he had secured his family's future and would retire peacefully, but by the year 2010, his life had changed completely.

In the beginning, he lost all the goods of his shop due to a snowstorm that hit Al-Swaida city, which led to the collapse of the warehouse and damage to all the goods. His loss was great, and when he tried to start over, the war began in Syria, and soon its devastating effect reached the city of Al-Swaida, so he had no choice but to leave everything behind and travel to Lebanon.

Along with his family, Nabil took shelter at the Capuchins' monastery where he worked as a driver. He stayed in Lebanon until 2020 when the security and economic situation deteriorated there and his income became a lot less than the high costs of living so he decided to return with his family to Damascus, hoping to have a better life there. Unfortunately, their return coincided with Corona pandemic, and he, his wife, and his granddaughter were infected with the virus. unfortunately, his wife remained in intensive care for more than 6 months, which ended with her death in the year 2021, and it was a great shock to him and his children

Nabil’s psychological state was greatly affected by his wife's death, especially since his two daughters traveled abroad, and he remained alone with his son in the house. He decided to work and help his son with his living obligations so he started to work in a taxi but his income wasn't enough to cover the high taxi rent.

After being funded by the Taxi project, Nabil feels that he has regained his dignity and energy to work as he has become independent and capable to handle the house expenses and secure his future. 

Rima Albitar is 35 years old, married to Hesny Kasouha and they have three adorable daughters Mira born in 2010, Rita born in 2014 and Lana born in 2016.

She graduated from the agriculture institute and was living in peace and security with her husband in Alqseir village which is located on the Lebanese-Syrian borders that’s why after the start of the Syrian war, the village was rapidly attacked by the armed groups who terrified the citizens by spreading violence and fear all over which forced most of them to flee out to save their lives.

in 2011, Rima, her husband, and her newborn baby Mira were among those who lost everything they had in the village and were displaced to Kashkoul area in Damascus.

unfortunately, due to the security incidents in the country, her brother-in-law was missing and they knew nothing about his whereabouts this affected her husband’s health and he started to suffer from Multiple sclerosis which affected the family’s situation as he became unable to work as before in addition the high treatment costs that he wasn’t able to afford in many times.

Rima couldn’t handle seeing her daughters deprived of their basic living needs and decided to work and support her husband so she started working at an undergarment shop for more than 12 hours a day trying her best to afford the livelihood expenses, yet her salary wasn’t enough to meet the high costs of living especially due to the increasing prices and the deteriorated economic situation.

Rima needed to start her project to improve her life and she was accepted at the Micro-project program to be funded with the necessary goods and equipment to start her undergarment shop with all hope that this project will provide her with a decent income and help with improving her conditions.

Fadi Al-Khoury 62, is married to Amal Rashid and has five children: Lara, Layal, Lina, Lorraine, and Elias.

He lives with his family in a rented old flat on Al-Duwailah street, in poor living conditions. 

For more than 33 years of his life, Fadi worked as an employee at a governmental institution until his retirement in 2018, after that, he started to work as a taxi driver trying his best to afford his family's livelihood, especially since his son and daughter are still at school and his wife suffers from slipped vertebrae, and needed to undergo surgery which they couldn't afford.

Moreover, his daughter Layal got divorced and moved back to live with them while being pregnant and in a bad health situation. All of that overloaded Fadi with extra responsibilities toward his family and no matter how hard he worked he was unable to meet the living demands.

his daughter Lara started to learn the nail beauty profession to work and help her father with the house expenses, yet, the living circumstances were getting worse year after year and Fadi needed to have a sustainable source of income to improve his conditions.

through the help of Micro-projects Fadi was funded with the taxi project in the hope that it will form a positive transition in his life to help him enhance his living and preserve his dignity.

That is what George Alyoussef said.

he is a 30-year single man who lives with his mother and two sisters in his uncle's house at Altabbaleh.

after he finished the baccalaureate, he started working to support his family because they were in bad financial condition. In 2015, he volunteered at the Two Sacred Hearts center and began his journey in the humanitarian field, the work that became his passion and gave him all his effort and time, but unfortunately, life chose another path for him to take, because in 2017 his father was diagnosed with brain cancer and began his long and painful treatment which forced George to leave his job many times to be beside his father, and in the end, he had to quit and support his family during that difficult period, especially since he was the only man in the house and his two sisters and mother were taking their strength from him.

After his father died in 2018, George found himself broke because during that period he has spent all of his savings and began struggling to secure daily sustenance and means of livelihood for his family, especially since his mother was suffering from osteoporosis and gastritis, and his sister was suffering from irregular blood sugar and they both needs medicine on daily basis.

George was forced to do any work that would provide him with a better income, so he worked as a Suzuki driver until 2020 when the car's owner sold the car to travel abroad so he started to work at a café trying as much as possible to afford the living expenses.

However, his condition was deteriorating and his income did not cover the increasing costs of living demands and medication, and he was in dire need of a project that would provide him with a good and stable income to secure his obligations.

Through the Micro-Project Program, George got his opportunity, which he was seeking, and was funded by the mini-van project that will use to deliver goods, products, school students, and children to churches.

All we hope is that this project will constitute a turning point in his life and help him improve his living conditions and secure a greater income that allows him and his family to live in dignity.

Imad Mallouh and his sons are among the survivors who experienced all the horrors of war and reached the death point but God's great mercy saved them.

He is 52 years old, married to Nahla Ghumaid, and has two sons and a daughter, he used to live with his family in Al-Swaida countryside and he was working as a policeman there.

After the start of the war, he faced many threats and dangers that ended in his kidnapping with his two sons by the armed gangs in 2013, as they suffered from humiliation and violence until his family paid a huge ransom of money to set them free.

indeed, imad and his sons were released by a miracle of God and he decided after that to flee out Al-Swaida to the countryside of Damascus where he rented a small modest flat and lived there with his family.

He was transferred to work at Al-Mleiha police station which was considered a dangerous place as he and his friends were also attacked by the armed groups and were hostages for a period until they managed to escape.

Imad retired in 2019 but his financial conditions were very bad so he decided to start working as a taxi driver trying his best to afford his family's living as his son Fadi is training to be a lawyer, his daughter Lousiana is at the fourth year at university and his youngest son Roni is still at the tenth grade.

unfortunately, his income didn't meet the increasing living demands and he needed to have his own taxi to increase his income because he was giving two-thirds of it to the taxi owner.

With the help of the Hope Center, Imad was able get a taxi to work on as he believes is suitable for his age, it will make a good daily return to support his family and improve his situation.

George Bergheil is a very talented 44-year-old man, he is married to Janet Haddad, and they have two beautiful daughters, Chanel, born in 2006, and Christelle, born in 2012.

George is from the village of Maaloula in the countryside of Damascus. When he was twenty years old, he started practicing the profession of mosaic, seashell inlays, and wood carving. He soon proved a great talent in this field and became the passion that took him all his time and effort.

After his marriage, he tried to work independently, so he bought the machines and tools that will enable him to have his own workshop in Maaloula, and his work became very desirable because of the artistic touch that he added to the pieces.

he worked hard dreaming to establish his own design signature, unaware that these dreams would fade away and that his life would turn upside down after 2011.

soon after the war outbreak, the armed groups reached the village of Maaloula and began terrorizing the citizens, practicing the most horrific acts of violence, destruction, and killing which forced most of its citizens to flee to save their souls including George and his family who left everything behind to preserve their lives without being able to take any of their possessions or work machines, which unfortunately were completely stolen, in addition to destroying their house and looting the furniture.

George lost everything he worked for and had to start over in a new place under very harsh conditions and returned to be a worker at an engraving and mosaic workshop trying his best to cope with the high costs of living, and his wife also started working and helping him, trying as much as possible to secure the life requirements for their two daughters.

with the help of the Hope Center, George gained the chance he was dreaming about all his life as he was funded with all the machines, equipment, and materials to start his workshop where he will have the space to work, create, and secure a decent living for his family.

For more than twenty years, Samer worked as a tiler for long hours to secure his family the best possible living.

Samer is 45 years old, married to Eivon Makhoul and they have two kids.

Samer and his family couldn’t afford to rent their own flat so they lived in a small room in his parent’s house in the Aldwallaa neighborhood. He was also responsible for taking care of his old parents and securing their expenses which overwhelmed him with high living costs.

He didn’t mind doubling his efforts for his family's sake and even in wartime, under the shelling and explosions, he kept his faith in God and his will and kept struggling to survive and live in dignity.

However, at the beginning of 2022, all his endeavors vanished in a blink of an eye when the iron cutting machine broke and the grinding wheel hit his left arm which led to the rupture of the tendons of his hand and caused severe injury to his nerves and bones.

After that incident, Samer went through long sessions of treatment and became unable to continue his previous work; for the following nine months, he was with no income, living with the help of his relatives and the church’s support. 

His psychological situation was affected badly since he never used to need anyone’s help and used to work and feed his family from his efforts.

Samer started to deliver vegetables and other products to shops and although his income was very low, he insisted to work to support his family.

he applied for the pickup truck project seeking work that suits his health condition and at the same time secures him a sustainable source of income to improve his livelihood situation.
