Despite her knee condition and the strain of her modest job, Firyal never faltered in her commitment to support her family. Living in a rented house in Qattinah village with her husband and two children, every penny counted.

Her dream of owning a business seemed distant until she heard of the Micro Projects Program. With the support, she finally opened her own cleaning and wrapping materials shop. This venture empowered her to contribute more substantially to her family's financial stability.

Now, Firyal's days are filled with purpose as she manages her shop, supporting her husband and securing a good life for her children. This shop isn't just a business; it's a symbol of hope and opportunity, allowing her to transform her family's circumstances and create a path to prosperity against all odds.

Fadila, a married woman and mother of four, lives with her family in Qattinah village. Her husband works tirelessly as an employee and a farmer to meet the family's needs. However, one source of income isn’t enough. Since 2018, Fadila has been running a dress leasing shop and working as a school teacher to contribute to their income.

She buys second-hand dresses and fixes them at a local sewing workshop before leasing them to women in her village. She dreamed of having her own sewing machines to repair dresses, as her manual machine is impractical. Owning the necessary sewing machines would allow her to work year-round, improving her business efficiency.

To make this dream a reality, Fadila applied to the Micro Projects Program for support as she plans to set up her own sewing business within her shop which would enable her to fix dresses, save time and increase her earnings. 

Securing better income through her shop would provide greater financial stability for the family, ensuring they can meet their needs and invest in their children's education.

Rasha is a single mother residing in Al-Sabeel neighborhood, she has been the sole caregiver for her ten-year-old son, Majd, who suffers from Children's asthma and Thalassemia. After splitting up with her husband, she took on the responsibility of providing for Majd's needs, including the costs of his treatments.

Since 2017, she has worked tirelessly in sales and at a beauty salon, but her modest earnings were barely enough to cover their living expenses and Majd's medical bills. Despite her brother's occasional support, Rasha knew she needed a more sustainable solution to ensure a better future for her son.

Determined to become financially independent and provide her only son with stability, she envisioned starting her own mini-market. However, the cost of launching such a business was beyond her means. That's when the Micro Projects Program in Homs stepped in, providing the necessary support to turn her dream into reality.

With the program's assistance, Rasha successfully opened her mini-market. This new venture not only improved their financial situation but also gave Rasha the independence she longed for. Eventually, Rasha remarried a man who embraced both her and Majd, offering a partnership built on mutual care and love.

Today, she looks forward to the future, leaving behind the struggles of the past and focusing on the promising opportunities ahead for her and her son.

Hanaa, a dedicated mother of six, resides in Qattinah village with her retired husband and four children, who are university and school students. Despite working in the health sector for over 30 years, her salary, combined with her husband's modest pension, was insufficient to meet their family's daily needs and cover the high costs of education.

Determined to improve her family's livelihood, Hanaa decided to start her own business; she opened a dairy shop, leveraging her skills in preparing dairy products and recognizing the high demand for these goods in her village. With the help of the Micro Projects Program, she launched her small business, with her husband supporting her in managing the shop.

This initiative transformed the family's life, providing a secure source of income and easing the financial burden. Her dairy shop not only supports her children's education but also ensures a stable future for her family. 

Edmon, a single man living with his parents, lost eight years of his life to mandatory military service from 2010 to 2018. Before that, he had worked diligently in a pastry shop since 2007, gaining valuable experience in the field. However, upon his discharge, he found himself unable to start his own business due to financial constraints. Instead, he took a job in detergent sales.

In an attempt to improve his situation, Edmon borrowed a significant amount of money to travel and seek better opportunities abroad. Unfortunately, his plans fell through, leaving him in severe financial trouble. Determined to turn his life around, he applied to the Micro Projects Program with a well-prepared plan to open his own pastry shop.

The program offered him a chance to leverage his past experience and build a stable business. His comprehensive study and dedication to his pastry shop project showcased his determination to create a successful career, allowing him to finally achieve the independence he longed for.

The brutal war that started in 2011 was a crucial turning period in the lives of many people whose lives were drastically flipped without a fault of their own. 

Fady Raffoul life turned upside down after the outbreak of the Syrian crisis. he used to work as a freight car driver for foreign Oil companies since 2006 and his financial situation was good. However, after 2011, the Oil companies canceled their contracts in Syria and discharged all the employees including Fady who found himself unemployed in a middle of a critical situation. 

He worked as a microbus driver for a while but the income was very low and the situation was getting worse, so he moved to his village for two years but life there was no better. For over four years, Fady moved between several countries, from Turkey to Greece, and ended up in Lebanon, seeking safety and security for his family, but all his efforts and money went in vain, he then returned to Syria frustrated and hopeless. 

Fady’s faith was stronger than his difficult reality, and he was ready for an opportunity that could help improve his financial and livelihood situation. Supporting Fady with the taxi will make a positive impact on his life after fighting so many obstacles and hardships.

For more than 20 years old the 50 years old Aziz Shakur would wake up every day put on his uniform, kiss his wife and three children goodbye, and head to his job as a traffic officer in the streets of the Syrian capital.

His long hours of work under the glaring sun and frosty wind would end only to jump into the other side of the road and pick up on his second job this time as a driver on Damascus' busiest routes called "Al Dwalaa".

During the war in Syria, "Al Dwalaa" became under constant danger as many killing and kidnapping incidents were occurring, and being on the streets made him more exposed to many dangers and threats, that he didn't even have the luxury to comprehend and be scared of in comparison with his main concern; to secure all the household supplies and life basics for his beloved family. In fact, his family was what made him strong to endure all the hardest years of war until they all reached the shores of safety.

While war couldn't shake the ground under this strong man's feet, his daughters recently diagnosed tumor surely did.

inheriting her father's resilience Joelle went through two major surgeries and a long journey of treatments and tests ahead. Her medical condition cost a lot of money and Aziz had to spend all his pension to afford it.

Despite Aziz having reached the age of fifty, he is still in the same spirit and same determination to wake up in the early morning doing his work for the sake of his family.

His hope is renewed with every shining sun and with every rising opportunity that hope of owning a livelihood and providing a better future for his family would be renewed. And even after he retired and reached the traffic department, he wanted to become a self self-employed that roams the street of Damascus looking forward to living with dignity and make his best to support the family that counts on him.

"It takes a lot of courage to push through hard times, a lot of love to care for others, and a lot of faith to go on in Life", those words are a good description of Elias Najjar as a person. 

Elias grew up in a modest house, between loving parents. After attaining his baccalaureate, he didn’t have the chance to continue his studies because he had to work and support his parents and siblings with basic living needs. Although their financial situation wasn’t good, they were glad to have each other.

However, things got harder during the years of war, the father went back to the village and worked as a farmer while Elias kept working in a restaurant for three years but the income was very low despite the long working hours, so he quit and decided to travel abroad hoping to improve his situation. He traveled to Lebanon where he stayed for another hardworking two years until the Lebanese security situation deteriorated rapidly by the end of 2019 whin in turn reflected badly on the economic situation that resulted in Elias losing his job.

He returned to Syria hoping to have a better chance and started to work with his cousin in electrical maintenance workshops. His cousin was an expert in this field and Elias began to learn until they decided to start a workshop together. Sadly his cousin was infected with Coronavirus and passed away, leaving Elias heartbroken in great shock.

Elias had no time to grief because, at the same period, his mother was diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo serious surgery and radiology sessions (that she is still continuing).

Despite all the hardships he has been through, Elias never gave up and kept believing that good things are coming his way. He wanted to work but he had to stay beside his mother to look after her, that's why he had the idea of turning a room from the house into a mini-market.

Supporting Elias with the goods and equipment to start his mini-market will make a positive impact on the family’s life, and at the same time allow him to take care of his mother during this difficult period. 

Although Abdullah Ajam is entering his seventies, he still has the strength of a young man ready to defy all life difficulties. He is originally from Aleppo but moved with his family to Jaramana, Damascus 20 years ago. Before the war in Syria, he worked at a goldsmith workshop but his profession deteriorated with the first months of the crisis. Abdullah stayed unemployed for about a year, but he was not willing to stay at home and wait for support from his sons.

He managed to borrow some money and started his own spices store and named it (Aleppo’s Supplies) and got special spices and goods from Aleppo to become the first of its kind in the area, people loved buying from this store. Abdullah became once again a supporter of his family and restored his independence, then he began to help the Latin church with the relief program of supporting other families. 

However, the past three years were very tough on all Syrians; with the worsening of the economic situation, Abdullah became unable to refill all the goods in his shop and was nearly broke.

By helping Abdullah, the store will continue its success, and the whole family will have the stability of livelihood thanks to the determination of this self-made man.

In 2011, after turning seventeen, and instead of starting the journey of establishing his future life, Majd Aldhaim found himself facing a devastating war and terrible living conditions.

Majd was born in 1994, he lived along with his family in their old house in Al Dwalaa area. He had to drop out of university because he was called for military service where he faced many dangers and survived several accidents, those tough days affected his health situation and he started to suffer damage in the Sciatic nerve and became unable to walk without crutches, as a result, he was discharged from the military service.

Majd found himself at a young age, disabled, with no university education or a profession, with heavy responsibilities.

However, he did not get frustrated or hopeless, on the contrary, he started to work at his brother’s store for mobiles maintenance and gained good experience in this field. The two brothers worked and shared the house expenses and their parents’ medication costs, but the deteriorated economic situation in the country put big financial pressure on them and hindered any improvement in their business, thus their equipment became outdated and unsuitable for work.

Throughout the Micro project initiative, Majd was supported with the proper tools and materials to strengthen his work and ensure better livelihood for the family.
