Our primary interest is aiding Christians through financing their
own micro-projects that would provide them with income to preserve their dignity
and alleviate the calamities of the crisis.
The team at Hope Center reviews and evaluates the projects and the extent to which the applicant has planned for his/her idea. If accepted, the center starts providing funds for the project to initiate.
Besides aiding Christians in need, this initiative aims for reviving the city of Aleppo that has lost most of its economic structure.
We suffered a lot during wartime, my house was in Bustan al-Basha area, I used to work in the industrial scales and when the armed troops went in we were displaced and we rented a house in the relatively safe areas. I learned later that my house was fully ruined, I had to work in anything just to provide some income for my family, I sold vegetables on the streets then I found a job in the rubber molds and compressors industry which I had to learn. Now I want with the help of this initiative to open a workshop and buy some equipment and that’s way I can start a new life with a big hope for the future and to increase my income to secure a good life for my family. My message for the Christians abroad is “God bless you and give you the strength”
I had a shop in Sheikh-Maksoud but after 15 days from the entrance of the armed troops we left it, and I knew then it was lost, my two brothers are now living in Lebanon and they are wanted for military service. Now I live in this rented house, I’m the only provider for the family. My passion is tailoring, I have loyal customers and my brother is working with me. The church helps us with the rent and part of the livelihood expenses, but we need to start depending on ourselves and start working again to recover the country’s industrial force.
‘I rented the shop and I used to pay monthly payments, I have some equipment and my brother works with me, I used to work before the war in the goldsmithing business but due to a neurological disease, I was unable to continue in this work field that requires accuracy. I live with my mother, my sister, in addition to my brother and his wife and three children, so we are 8 people in the same house. My mother also has neurotic disease, my brother had a shop in Sheikh-Maksoud that was robbed and ruined, now he’s living off the church’s help “the Family to Family financial help was like a Christmas gift in the time of war” We need a fresh start after all these hardships and this might be exactly the help we need to start over.’
“I chose this kind of projects because I have a good experience in this domain and I worked in marketing for more than five years, also there isn't any sportswear stores in my area, but there are lots of young people who like to wear this style, I believe that this project would be very successful. Before the crisis, my siblings and I owned a sweets factory, Unfortunately, during the war, the factory was destroyed completely. However, we are still...
He is currently working in the JRS kitchen but his contract will expired in September. He lives in a rented house and he has one child; the church gives him a monthly payment. In addition to his work in the JRS kitchen he is working in a fast-food restaurant. Now he wants to have a mini supermarket to become more independent and have a stable income.
He is a father for two girls their ages are 13 and 10. They live in a rented house in Al midan region which they moved to during the crisis because their area was endangered by the shells. He is now an employee in an Aluminum workshop but there are some problems at work and the salary is low, not enough to provide the needed amount of money for his family. He wants to open his own shop because it...
Because of war and the difficult circumstances that the city of Aleppo has witnessed, we lost our shop which was the family’s only source of income. My brother who's surving in the military was shot by a sniper and I helped him with affording the costs of his medical bills, along side with the family expenses; all that put a lot of pressure on me, then I heard about this initiative and I felt that there's still hope to start again, turn the page of sorrows and have the chance to work and help my family.
I was displaced from my house in Al-meedan area after it got damaged, to my uncle’s house, I left my shop and became unemployed for six months, which was the hardest period of my life, then I worked at my uncle’s shop but I lost my customers and I need a better income because the profits are little and these machines will help me alot to provide a decent life for my family and try to overcome the hardships we went through.
We were displaced from Al- Saydeh Mountain and rented a small place through the help of CONGREGATION DES FRERES MARISTES. I was left with no job and two kids. I worked in several jobs just to provide income such as selling gas bottles, cleaning houses, cleaning chimneys, and anything I could find. This shop will be a new hope for me to start over after going through all this agony and to work in something that I actually like and know how to do well.
I used to work at several workshops in tailoring on the sewing machines, during the war crisis I worked in a shelter that belongs to my brother in law under my house, and I borrowed sewing machines and with the help of my husband "who also lost his job because of war" and my kids who help me after finishing their study at the university, we work hard and get by. My goal is not to get rich, rather not to have to beg anyone for money and to have a decent life for our family. We're a big family and we need every little help we can get.
I have worked in plumbing since 1992, I also worked as a blacksmith for a while but I got injured. Currently, I live with my wife, my daughter, my father and my mother-in-law and I’m the sole provider for the family. Earlier this year my mother passed away, she had a stroke and she was recovering from it in the village, her medicine was unavailable there so we called the doctor and he described another medicine which later turned on to be...

Hassan's career started in 1980, between Syria and Lebanon, which enriched his skills and strengthened his experience in the field of tiling.
When he lost his equipment during the war, like many craftsmen in Homs, he worked on his own car as a driver just to provide for his wife and their three children being their sole support in life, and by time, he managed to buy some simple tools and resume practicing his profession.
Using these modest tools nowadays wasn't enough to work properly, and he couldn't buy new equipment due to the high prices, while he was barely able to cover their daily needs.
This initiative helped him have all the essential equipment to continue and save the family's only source of livelihood.

Floor tiling has been Bassam's only way to provide for his family since 1973, with a great experience that he gained by working in many cities around the country.
He is a married man and a father of four; with 3 daughters and a son, and the sole breadwinner of the family.
He applied to the Micro Projects Program hoping to compensate for the equipment which he lost during the war; because borrowing it from the other craftsmen has become impractical and it took a lot of time to finish his work while buying new equipment was unaffordable.
