"You are my brothers, and your visit today is a blessing from the Lord"
This is how Alaa welcomed us during our visit. He is the breadwinner for a family of four children and his wife. His daughters are in school, one son is serving in the army, and the other son left school to help him at work. Alaa currently works as a guard at the Farhat Square area, a gathering place for three churches.
Alaa and his family, along with his parents and siblings, used to live in all together in one house in Farhat Square, which became a dangerous area during the war. His family went through harrowing experiences.
Alaa used to work as a taxi driver, but when the conflict reached Aleppo, it became perilous so he had to leave this job and started working in a funeral office, transporting the bodies and remains of the deceased. During this time, he contracted a severe infection that nearly claimed his life. However, through divine and medical care, he managed to survive.
Their home sustained significant damage, resulting in severe injuries to his siblings. Fortunately, Alaa's immediate family was not harmed, but he lost his place of residence. The church assisted him by providing a home and employing him to guard the entrance gate of Farhat Square with a modest salary.
Since then, he has wanted to increase his income to support his daughters' education and improve his family's living conditions. He decided to apply to the center for a Suzuki vehicle to help boost his income. Alaa is well-known in the area, and given that the Tellal area where he works is a commercial zone, he plans to rely heavily on his numerous acquaintances there to start working with the vehicle.
Alaa expressed his gratitude to the Lord first and then prayed for everyone working at the Hope center and for all those who contributed to realizing his dream of securing dignified life for his family.
